Dog Grooming Booking Policy in Spennymoor.
What You Need to Know
Booking Appointments
At Shampoochon, booking your dog’s grooming appointment in Spennymoor is simple and personal.
You can book by calling 07776 824304 or sending a message via WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram.
Once I receive your message, I’ll confirm your appointment and take a few details about your dog, including breed, coat condition, and any specific grooming needs. This helps me prepare properly and ensure your dog receives the best possible care.
Appointments are offered on a one-to-one basis, so your dog receives my full attention throughout their visit.
You can also visit our dog grooming services page to learn more.
An online booking system will be available soon, making it even easier to check availability and book directly through the website.
Cancellations & No-Shows
I understand that life happens and plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your dog’s grooming appointment, please let me know as soon as possible — ideally at least 48 hours in advance.
This allows me enough time to offer your appointment to another client and helps keep the schedule running smoothly.
Missed appointments or last-minute cancellations may be subject to a fee, as this time has been set aside especially for your dog.
Thank you so much for your understanding and support. It truly makes a difference as a small business.
Appointment Times & Collection
To ensure every dog enjoys a calm, one-to-one grooming experience, all appointments are carefully scheduled. Please read the information below so the day runs smoothly for everyone.
Arrival to Your Appointment
- Please arrive on time for your dog’s grooming appointment so I can give them my full attention without rushing.
- If you are running late, I will always do my best to accommodate where possible.
- Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may result in:
– The full groom not being completed
– A shorter appointment being carried out (additional charges may apply)
– The appointment needing to be rescheduled and treated as a missed/no-show
Collection Times
- You will be given an approximate collection time when dropping your dog off.
- I will contact you around 15 minutes before your dog is ready, so you can make your way back to the salon.
- As this is a one-to-one grooming service, I’m unable to keep dogs once their appointment is finished, as I need to prepare for the next booking.
- If you expect to be late collecting your dog, please let me know as soon as possible.
- Collections more than 15 minutes late may be subject to a late collection fee.
Matted Dog Policy
I understand that life gets busy, and it’s not always easy to keep on top of your dog’s coat at home. Matting can happen quickly and, if left untreated, may cause discomfort, skin irritation, or pain for your dog.
How I Manage Matting
Light matting may be gently worked out for up to 15 minutes, as long as your dog is comfortable and happy throughout the process.
If the coat is too matted to brush safely, the kindest and safest option is to clip the coat shorter. This may result in a shorter style than expected, but it will be much more comfortable for your dog.
In some cases, after a clip-down, temporary skin redness or irritation may occur. This is a normal reaction and not something I can be held responsible for.
Humanity always comes before vanity.
Consent & Communication
I will assess your dog’s coat with you at drop-off and discuss any visible matting before the groom begins.
If additional matting is discovered during the groom, I will contact you before continuing wherever possible.
If I am unable to reach you, I will proceed with what is safest and most comfortable for your dog.
A matting consent form will need to be signed prior to grooming. If consent is not given, the appointment may need to be cancelled and treated in line with the cancellation policy.
Matting Fees
Additional charges may apply to cover the extra time, care, and equipment required to safely remove matting.
Matting fees typically range from £5–£40+, depending on the severity of the coat condition.
Prevention
I’m always happy to offer advice on coat care and recommend a grooming routine to help prevent matting in the future.
Flea Policy
For the safety, hygiene, and comfort of all dogs, I am unable to groom dogs that have active fleas.
If fleas are discovered during your dog’s grooming appointment, the groom may need to be stopped immediately. This is to prevent the spread of fleas within the salon and to protect other dogs.
A £20 flea treatment charge will be applied to cover the cost of disinfecting and treating the salon and equipment.
Please check your dog before attending their appointment. If you suspect fleas, just get in touch to reschedule your booking.
To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
Behaviour & Aggressive Dogs
Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are always my priority, along with my own safety while grooming.
If a dog shows signs of aggressive behaviour, such as biting, snapping, or behaviour that could cause harm, I may need to stop the groom immediately for safety reasons.
In these situations, I will contact you to arrange collection of your dog as soon as possible. Where necessary, photos or videos may be taken to document the behaviour for transparency.
If your dog has shown signs of aggression or anxiety in the past, this must be disclosed at the time of booking. This allows me to assess whether I am able to safely carry out the groom.
If a groom cannot be completed due to aggressive behaviour that was not disclosed in advance, the full grooming fee will still be payable. This is to cover the time and appointment slot reserved specifically for your dog.
Shampoochon reserves the right to refuse or discontinue grooming at any time if safety is a concern.
